Story of the Purchase My Old Car

Story of the Purchase My Old Car

It all started the week of January 3, 2000. I had been looking for a car for some time. After seeing the Chrysler adds on TV promising great financing and having driven the new Neon a couple times I decided I would purchase one. So on January 6 I headed out to find one. I started at one dealer who I thought had the fully loaded Neon I wanted, well they didn't quite and weren't very helpful in suggesting how to find one or get one. So I headed home dismayed. Since the sale ended January 8, I got home and called everyone one of the Chrysler dealers in Winnipeg looking for a fully loaded Neon, everyone said Neon's with ABS were hard to find, but they would look for me. However when I came to the last one in the book, he said they had one on the lot. Wow, I thought, anyway I asked to make sure it had ABS, he thought so, but would call back. Anyway a couple of the other dealers called back and may or may not have found a fully loaded Neon in Edmonton, and most just kept pushing the Neon's they had on their lots. Anyway, Bob Roach at Winnipeg Dodge Jeep called back and confirmed that the Neon was fully loaded and came in silver. Well I had to head out to work for the rest of the day and the next, so I wasn't able to get there till the Saturday, January 8. I showed up around 10am, it turns out that I arrived 20 minutes too late, as someone was just heading out on a test drive in the Neon as I arrived. Anyway, they decided to buy the car. Well, Bob was nice enough to put through the paperwork on the car just in case the deal fell through and if it didn't he would see if he could find another car and I could still get in on the sale. Anyway on Monday, January 10, Bob called to say the other deal went through but he had found an identical car in Toronto and they would even cover the freight. Well that's great, I signed the papers for that the same day. Tuesday rolled around and I realized throughout this strange negotiation process I had forgotten to get the grad rebate. Bob also was nice enough to include this and I signed the papers to reflect this on Wednesday. Well now to the good part, Tuesday, January 18, the delivery date. The car arrived from Stouffville Chrysler ,(which is actually north of Toronto and Markham), still with the factory wrappings and window sticker. I got the car with only 35km on it, by the time I got home that number was 64km.
